Our founder Emmanuel had just returned from working as a structural engineer in South Africa when his cousin's family build in Nyamirambo was abandoned mid-construction by a contractor who'd taken the deposit and disappeared. Two years of savings, a half-built shell, no recourse.
He started Trust Contractors that year with one promise: fixed-price contracts, in-house teams only, and references on every project. More than a decade later, that's still how we work — and we've never abandoned a single project.

- 2013
Trust Contractors founded in Kigali
Emmanuel Gatare incorporates the firm with one promise: fixed-price contracts only. First project: a single-family home in Nyamirambo for RWF 28M.
- 2015
First commercial project
A 2-storey office block in Kacyiru. Crossed RWF 100M project value for the first time. Hired our first full-time structural engineer.
- 2018
Launched the Diaspora Build Program
After three Rwandan-diaspora clients in a row asked for weekly video updates and milestone-based payments, we formalized the program. First diaspora build: a 4BR home in Kibagabaga, built entirely from Boston.
- 2021
100th project delivered
Crossed the 100-project mark. Team grew to 28 full-time. RSSB compliance and full insurance coverage rolled out across the company.
- 2023
First RWF 1B+ commercial build
Ihuriro Business Plaza in Kacyiru — RWF 1.2B mixed-use, 4 floors. Finished 14 days ahead of contract. Our in-house team grew across engineering and field crews.
- 2026
Building across Rwanda · 0 abandoned
Where we are today. Building from Kigali to Musanze, Rubavu, Huye. Expanding the diaspora program to Australia and the UK.
